How Team WSA is keeping busy through lockdown

Life in Lockdown
Many people are finding this lockdown tougher than the last and let's be honest, there are only so many zoom trivia nights and Netflix bingeing sessions that we can do to get us through.

While many of our team are reporting to site each day, following our strict COVID Safe plan, as well as NSW rules around the site's capacity and vaccinations, we've got lots of Team WSA working from home. We reached out to some of the members of Team WSA to see what they’re doing during lockdown, when they're not helping bring Sydney's new airport to life.

Lyn Osbourne, GM Capability, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

"I have decided to set myself a challenge to get fit during lockdown by walking 10,000 steps per day. I'm on a mission to make sure I turn this lockdown into a chance to be healthier! I have loved cooking up healthy meals and have found my passion for baking again - the family are loving it.

"I’ve found some great resources online for planning healthy recipes, and I am making time to ensure I get my steps up to my 10,000 goal and so far, I am feeling great!"

Carolann Dunne, Procurement Manager

"I found a passion for baking last year and have taken it up again this time. I’ve even signed up for a course with an online baking school. It’s really educational, not to mention therapeutic and the best part is that you get a delicious treat at the end of it!

"I’d encourage any fellow bakers (or hungry people) out there to search for online baking schools to find the right course for your interest and skill level."

Ceyda Nalbantoglu, Corporate Affairs Trainee

"As a proud born and raised resident of Western Sydney, I know that the area is home to some of the best food in the world! I have spent the lockdown becoming very closely acquainted with the joy that is contactless delivery to fill my belly with an array of different cultures delicacies.

"Not only are you supporting small business during a difficult period, but you are also getting to enjoy great food!"

A few of Ceyda's recent favourites are:
-    Kebab House – Wetherill Park
-    Burger Head - Penrith
-    An Nhien Vegetarian Cuisine - Cabramatta

Margaret McCullough, Community Partnerships Manager

"I'm one of the few people who are still enjoying lounging around watching Netflix and snacking!

"But it’s not ideal for the waistline so I’ve recently committed to ‘Live Life Get Active’ which is a registered health promotion charity that specifically addresses health, fitness and happiness issues facing people today.

"They offer outdoor and at home workouts, personal training, nutritional guidance and yummy recipe ideas! Best part, it is all free!"

David Besier, Internal Communications Manager

"While we can’t travel at the moment, I’ve been feeding my wanderlust by walking around neighbourhoods with Google Street View or taking virtual sightseeing tours. It’s addictive and fun!

"Here are a few of my other favourite ‘at home’ site seeing tours:

"The one place at the top of my list to visit once international borders open is Istanbul!"

Mirella Di Genua, Community Engagement

"I’m a plane spotter from way back but with fewer planes in the sky I’ve taken to watching real time train journeys on the Sydney Trains Facebook page. It’s a great way to relax and experience a new journey from the comfort of my home. It’s almost as good as the real thing, almost.

"A recent favourite of mine was a trip departing from Mount Victoria Station before heading down the Blue Mountains to reach its destination at Penrith Station."
